Gingival (Gum Dam) Barrier Gel
Gingival (Gum Dam) Barrier Gel
Gingival barrier gel (also known as gum dam barrier gel) is used to protect gums & soft tissue during in-office teeth whitening or air-abrasion procedures.
When using high-strength teeth whitening gel for in-office bleaching treatments, it is important to use gingival barrier gel as it keeps peroxide away from the gum line and eliminates skin irritation.
Gingival barrier gel is a light-cured resin that is applied at the gingival margins prior to the start of treatment. To reach its full efficacy, gingival barrier gel requires the application of a Dental Curing Lamp for up to 10 seconds. To remove the product after bleaching is complete, simply lift product away with a Micro Applicator Swab.
Gingival barrier gel comes in a light-proof black 3ml syringe.
One (1) syringe tip is included per syringe. Gingival barrier gel has a 1-year shelf life.
Ingredients: Diurethane Dimethacrylate, 4-Methacryloxyethyl, Trimellitic Anhydride, Silicon Dioxide, Titanium Dioxide, Light Initiators, Sodium Saccharin, Pigments.
TO USE:
STEP 1: Apply a cheek retractor to the patient’s mouth.
STEP 2: Clean and dry the tooth and gum area where gingival barrier will be applied.
STEP 3: Remove cap from gingival barrier gel syringe, apply gingival barrier tip to syringe. Apply gel directly to the gum line in a thin, even bead, following the tooth line. Keep in mind, if any gingival barrier gel is cured on the tooth surface, teeth whitening gel will not penetrate the tooth in those areas.
STEP 4: Cure gingival barrier gel until hardened with a Dental Curing Lamp for up to 10 seconds.
STEP 5: Proceed with teeth whitening process.
STEP 6: When the teeth whitening process is complete and teeth whitening gel is completely wiped away, remove gingival barrier gel, then remove retractor. Patient may need to rinse mouth and expectorate.
